Parents are a child's primary educator. Scoil Ursula recognises this and works to build and strengthen the relationship between home and school to help children maximise their full potential. There are many ways in which parents are invited to be actively involved in school life.
Scoil Ursula has a purpose built Parents' Room in which all Home School activities take place organised by the Home School Community Liaison Coordinator. Parents are invited to class group meetings, information sessions and workshops on a variety of topics. Parental involvement in a community reading project called "One Book One Community" operates on an annual basis through the coordinator.
The staff value greatly the input of parents as a resource in classrooms when Mams and Dads are invited to help out in a wide range of areas such as English activities, reading,Maths games and Art and Craft. Parents are invited to participate in policy formation working in partnership with teachers to produce policy documents aimed at providing a quality education and a safe and happy learning environment for al children. The Parents Room is also used as the venue for a return to education for parents and communiy members when courses are offered on a range of subjects.
Our vibrant Parents' association also uses the room as a base for meetings and planning the many activities which they organise every year.
We believe in partnership between home and school. Meaningful dialogue between parents and staff cements this partnership and provides a platform for our children to grow and mature in an academic, social and emotional sense. We invite all parents to play an active role in the daily life of Scoil Ursula.
